Frequently Asked Questions
-
For international TFW placements, the full process takes approximately 6–9 months from the date you sign your agreement. This includes 8 weeks of mandatory job advertising, ESDC LMIA review (3–5 months), and work permit processing. For In-Canada workers — those already legally in Canada with open work permits or permanent residency — placement can happen within days with no government processing required.
-
The employer pays this fee directly to the Canadian government (ESDC). Farmhand does not collect this fee and does not profit from it. It is entirely separate from our recruitment fee.
-
No. Under Canadian law and Farmhand's own policy, we never charge workers fees of any kind — including application fees, visa fees, or recruitment fees. All costs are paid by the employer. Any recruiter that charges workers is operating illegally under the Employment Standards Act.
-
Food processing, construction general labour, agricultural operations (greenhouse, nursery, mushroom farms), and general year-round industrial labour. We do not place licensed tradespeople or regulated professionals — our placements are general and semi-skilled labour roles.
-
We provide replacement support for all placements. Contact us immediately if an issue arises — we will work to source a replacement through our El Salvador pipeline or our In-Canada worker roster. Specific replacement terms are outlined in your signed recruitment agreement.

We are a licensed Ontario recruiter and currently serve employers across the province of Ontario. We prioritize operations outside major census metropolitan areas where TFW LMIA approvals are processed without restriction.
